Press Release RE: Referendum Petitions

For immediate release:

On July 21, 2021, a petition committee consisting of William Roger Miller, Cathy Ann Jerbic, and John D. Scarito presented to the Board of Violet Township Trustees a petition seeking to have the question submitted to the voters of the Township of whether the Violet Township Zoning Plan should be repealed in its entirety.

Acting as mandated by the Ohio Revised Code, at its regular meeting on July 21, 2021, the Board of Violet Township Trustees adopted a resolution to forward the petition to the Fairfield County Board of Elections. The Board of Elections will now review the sufficiency and validity of the petition.

If approved by the Fairfield County Board of Elections, this petition will allow voters in the unincorporated portion of Violet Township to vote to repeal the Violet Township Zoning Plan in its entirety at the November 2, 2021 election. The action of the Board in adopting a resolution to forward this petition to the Board of Elections does not constitute endorsement of the petition, but rather is an action the Board was required to take by law.
