LFPT announces the deviated (FLEX) routes in Pickerington and Violet Township are approved as a PERMANENT SERVICE!
See the route schedules too!
Lancaster-Fairfield Public Transit (LFPT) began a six month pilot program in October operating two deviated-fixed (flex) routes throughout Pickerington and Violet Township.
Throughout the pilot, the two routes (PickNorth and PickSouth) have run continuous hourly loops throughout Pickerington and Violet Township Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. One route operates the north corridor and the other south corridor with both routes meeting each hour at Giant Eagle to transfer passengers wishing to travel between corridors.
Since October, the system has monitored usage, held a public hearing, and received numerous comments and recommendations. Based on the ridership and public request, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Transit has authorized these two routes as permanent service that will operate Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (no route service on Tuesday or Friday). Please note the permanent schedule changes are effective as of Monday, April 10th!
The routes are available for anyone who wants to use them! The cost is $0.50 general public fare, $0.25 mobility (elderly/disabled fare), and $0.10 transfers. Signs are posted at most locations and indicated on the route schedules, route map available at http://www.ci.lancaster.oh.us/242/Transit or by calling 740-681-5086.
To make your bus ride easy, be at the stop at least 5 minutes prior to posted times, and have exact fare, as drivers are NOT permitted to make change (31-day pass ($30.00) for unlimited rides on either route are available by calling 740-681-5086).
The routes allow for one deviation per hour for any location up to ¾ of a mile from the route; however, all deviated stops must be requested at least 24 hours in advance to ensure the route remains on time for all riders.
We are excited to have this service and hope the community will continue to ride the bus!
